Working Your Concepts!

IMPORTANT, please read below.

These are online reads intended to provide as much honest and constructive feedback as time allows. Therefore, we restrict each read to a page limit of up to 10 per writer. These pages can be anything: script, synopsis, treatment, step outline, etc... we accept only PDF files.

If you intend to submit non-script pages, please send them at least 1 week before the session. It's best to read a treatment or synopsis ahead of time when possible, as these pages work best when read individually. This will also help us save time.

Please send the organiser your intended pages ahead of the meetup:

We will review the scripts on a first-in, first-served basis, relying on the order we receive them.

Please also have a logline ready before the read. For help with your logline, feel free to visit:

These are peer reviews, and by submitting your work, you accept that the members may have different views on what constitutes a successful script and a good story. All feedback is given in good faith, and we ask you to let people speak freely, even if you disagree with them.

Our members have always been able to improve their work from these sessions and learn regardless of their experience level.

We cannot always guarantee enough time to review everyone's work. If any members miss out, we will schedule them at the top of the list for the next meetup.

In the Sydney Screenwriters Meetup Group, we learn, discuss and socialise with like-minded writers and film lovers.

Every month, Neer brings you the WORKING YOUR CONCEPTS and WORKING YOUR SCRIPTS workshops. Check this site for our the schedule (and to find out when/where we're meeting in the real world again).

Every third Saturday I will specifically discuss story, character, theme and structure alongside the screening of a film or TV episode.

You're welcome to join any of these; you don't need to have written anything, and preparation is not necessary. All you need is a keen love and interest in stories for film and TV!

During these Meetups, members are encouraged to keep things casual, as we talk about film and TV, our industry, career tips, and study film clips and scripts.
